a.s.r. announced the acquisition of 98.56% of Generali Nederland for €143 million in cash on September 13, 2017, strengthening its position as the #3 player in the Dutch insurance market. The bolt-on acquisition adds 2.1% market share in Non-life and 0.8% in Life, with expected cost synergies representing at least 50% of Generali Nederland's cost base. The transaction was expected to close in Q1 2018 with a projected return on investment exceeding 12%.
